>> Sharad Purnima
Sharad Purnima is a harvest festival which follows the Navratri
and is celebrated a fortnight before Diwali. Kojagiri is a special moonlit night wherein everyone enjoys saffron flavoured milk. The full moon night is called Navanna Purnima or the moonlit night of new food. Lamps are lit before the full moon and the newly harvested rice is offered to the gods. In many Durga temples, the goddess who has gone to rest after nine-day war with Mahashasura, is awakened with music and drumbeats and taken around the temple in a torch-lit procession called Chhabina.
