SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE IN SANSKRIT
 

Alchemy: Kakacandesvarimata tantra;Swarna tantra; Nagarjuna's Rasaratnakara, Madhava's Sarva-darsana-sangraha, Somadeva's Rasendra-cudamani, Yasodhara's  Rasaprakasa-suddhakara and Govindacharya's Rasasara.

Medicine: Vaidyaraja Tantra; Kailasa-karaka; Bhaskara-samhita; Karttikeya's Vahatagrantha; Asvin's Asvini Samhita and Nadinidana; Divodasa's Chikitsadarsana; Kasiraja's Chikitsakaumudi and Bharadvaja's Dhatulakshana are notable works on medical science. Human anatomy is referred to in Atharvaveda and in Satapatha Brahmana. Rugviniscaya or Nidana by Madhavakara (7th century) is an authoritative work on pathology while Kumara Tantra is a well-known work on pediatrics.  On dietetics, Susena wrote Annapanavidhi, Raghunatha wrote Pathyapathyanighantu and Bhojana-kutuhala and Viswaneth Sen penned Pathyapathya-viniscaya.  There are several works on Veterinary science such as Palakapya's Gajurveda, on the treatment of elephants and Salihotra's Asva-sastra, on the treatment of horses.  Some of the important medical dictionaries are Indukara's Nighantu, Dhanvantari's Dhanvantari-nighantu, Suresvara's Sabda-pradipa and Narahari's Raja-nighantu.

Gemnology: Agastya's Ratna-sastra and Buddhabhatta's Ratna-pariksa.

Cookery: Nala's Nalapaka and Manirama Sharma's Pakavijnana and Pakavidya.

Astronomy: Aryabhatta's Aryabhatiya, Dasagitika-Sutra and Aryastasata belonging to the 5th century,  Varahamihira's Pancha-siddhantika, Brahmagupta's Brahmasphuta-siddhanta and Khanda-khadyaka, Bhaskaracharya's Siddhanta-shiromani and Karana-kutuhala and Bhoja's Raja-mriganka.

Mathematics: Mahiviracharya's Ganita-sarasangraha; Sridhara's Trisati and Narayana's Ganita-kaumudi.

Astrology: Varahamihira's Brihat samhita, Brihajjataka and Laghu-jataka; Prithuyasas's Hora-satpancasika; Bhattotpala's Horasastra and Kalidasa's Suryasiddhanta.

Erotics: Vatsyayana's Kamasutra; Yaodhara's Jyamangala, which is a commentary on the Kamasutra and Padmasri's Nagara-sarvasva,.

Grammar: Panani's Astadhhyayi
