Ajit Barua (b.1926), an eminent modern Assamese poet who is known for his major poetic works like Padya Aru Gan, Brahmaputra Ityadi Padya and a book of criticism Sahityar Bishaye. He is the recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award and the Bhartiya Bhasha Parishad Award.
