Maharajapuram Vishwanatha Iyer

Maharajapuram Vishwanatha Iyer (1896-1970) was a renowned vocalist of the Carnatic music who was known for his magnificent renderings of raga alaapanas and kritis. He received his initial training from Swaminatha Iyer and Thanjavur Rangappayar. He was also an accomplished mrundangist. The connoisseurs of music of Thanjavur honoured him as Sangita Bhoopati.
