Sunderlal Bahuguna
Gandhian environmentalist and founder of the Chipko movement, Sunderlal Bahuguna popularised eco-awareness among people and championed the cause of the downtrodden. He fought against untouchability and organised hill women to lead an anti-liquor movement from 1965 to 1971. He has been the guiding force of the anti Tehri-dam movement for over 20 years.
