Indian literature comprises of writings produced in a variety of vernacular languages, including Sanskrit, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Rajasthani, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu and Sindhi among others, as well as in English.
